The Department of Community Medicine, JSS Medical College, Mysuru invites you to the national level conference on nutrition, “MY NUTRICON – 2022” to be conducted in collaboration with Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition, University of Mysore, Mysuru and Department of Nutrition and Dietetics, JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru. The conference will be held on 8th and 9th December 2022 with preconference workshop on 7th December 2022. The theme for the conference is “Public Health Aspects of Nutrition towards Sustainable Development Goals”

Department of Community Medicine strives to produce a breed of primary care physicians with compassion towards patient care, leadership, research and management techniques. The various community outreach programs offered by the department include School health appraisal program, SMARAN Project, Tribal health check-up camps, Screening camps for non-communicable diseases in urban slums and rural areas, Outreach health education sessions on issues of public health importance. etc.

Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition

The Department of Studies in Food Science and Nutrition (Formerly known as Home Science) was established by the University of Mysore in the year 1970toofferPostgraduate and Doctoral degree programs in Food Science and Nutrition. The department further started a Master’s and Doctoral degree program in Human Development (1993-94), M.Sc. Specialization in Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics (2013), PG Diploma in Food Safety, Hygiene and Applied Nutrition (2020), and Certificate Course in Nutrition and Health (2020) in collaboration with IIHMR, Bangalore. Department is also actively involved in the online SWAYAM MOOC program for Food and Nutrition.
